Howl O Ween 2012
Families and their dogs made new friends on Saturday, October 27th during our annual Howl O Ween event. The highlight of the event each year is the costume contest...it is always so fun to see the dogs decked out, and this year was no exception. In addition to the ten dogs who came in costume, we had just as many come out of costume just to have fun!
Attendance was up about twice what it was last year, and that was especially exciting considering several families who planned to come weren't able to at the last minute.
One family brought their food truck, Pork U, for everyone to enjoy, and the food was AMAZING!!! Anyone who didn't try it definitely missed out. Seating was very limited, but no one seemed to mind as they meandered through the stations.
Kids activites included face painting, Build A Bag (to decorate their goody bags), Pumpkin Toss, Connect 3 Toss, and Fishing (although it was moved inside due to wind).
Other activities included Dog Treat Search where treats were hidden in one cup of a muffin pan with tennis ball covering all the holes...the challenge for the dogs was to find the one containing the treat and dig for it.
We also had a Relay Race planned for owners and their dogs, but with all the excitement and fun, none of us ever started a race...I guess that will have to wait for next year.
Yvonne Cisneros, our own dog whisperer, was there demonstrating obedience training and teaching participants new commands.
Thanks so much to everyone who volunteered and helped make this event the best one yet. Next year will be even better!!! See you next year -- last Saturday of October.
