What is Laparoscopy?
Laparoscopy is a surgical technique in which the doctor utilizes specialized equipment to enter very small incisions to explore the abdominal cavity. In the past, such surgeries required large, “open” incisions. But with our laparoscopy, the doctor can insert a thin, lighted tube (telescope) attached to a high-definition camera to visualize and even magnify organs.
LOVE Spay is one such laparoscopic procedure.
What is LOVE Spay?
LOVE Spay is short for Laparoscopic OVE (ovariectomy).
LOVE Spay provides an alternative to the traditional surgical removal of a dog’s ovaries.
– A laparoscope (camera) is inserted through a keyhole-sized (about 5 mm) incision.
– Tiny surgical instruments and our state-of-the-art Voyant Electrosurgical GenWhaterator remove the ovaries and seal the tissue.
– 1-2 stitches close the incision.
